Our values tree that grows as we grow.

Our school values:
  • Nurture
  • Belonging
  • Respect

Our School Rules:
  • Be Safe
  • Be Calm
  • Be Respectful

We feel that these values and rules encompass all the necessary requirements to learn and thrive in a safe space for all.  Our highly trained staff will demonstrate these rules and values at all times.

British Values

In support of The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British Values in our school as we aim to prepare our pupils for life in Modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • Democracy
  • Rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
SMSC and British Values

At Lake Haven School we aim to provide all of our learners with an aspirational curriculum which will help them to learn. However, we are aiming for our pupils to consider our world in which we live. They will decide how we can foster a love for our environment and protect our planet as a place where we all belong.

Through the teaching of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development including British Values; pupils are encouraged to accept responsibility for their behaviour, understand how they can contribute positively to the locality of the school and society more widely, begin to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of identifying and combating discrimination, celebrate cultural traditions, acquire a broad general knowledge of, and respect for, public institutions and services in England; ultimately developing their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence.

British Values and Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural learning are embedded throughout our curriculum. Staff are also encouraged to take advantage of opportunities that may arise as in various ways to continually promote these values at all times.

We have many plans to enhance and promote British Values and SMSC opportunities including:

  • Open days for parents, celebrating pupils progress and achievement
  • Empathy Day
  • Public service visits
  • Offsite trips within the community, including places of worship
  • Class performances within whole school assemblies
  • School Council
  • Everyone’s Welcome Weekly Assembly from Andrew Moffatt
  • Through our PSHE ad RSE Scheme of work
  • Working within the local community - around the lake, canteen, office for the fishery.
  • Looking after the animals and rewilding our environment
  • Studying the United Nations Sustainability Goals
